WIGENSWERKZ

This is the fourth in a series of contemporary chamber music concerts, put together by JERRY WIGENS as a platform for new music conceived by himself and the other players for combinations of flute, piano, guitar, violin and cello.

Wigens’s own music reflects his diverse playing and listening experience with elements of jazz and world music surfacing at various points.  This synthesis of classical and non-classical throws up fascinating moods and textures that occupy their own unique space and make for engaging listening.

The pieces by esteemed flautist ROWLAND SUTHERLAND (One for Hermeto and Lamentations of Jeremiah) reflect his broad interests in contemporary forms; while pianist/vocalist CELIA LU presents a piece based on John Cage’s beautiful work In a Landscape. Both hers and Rowland’s pieces allow for improvised contributions from the performers.

Both DYLAN BATES and RICAHRD BOLTON are creative musicians with a wealth of experience in various forms and also contribute their own works to the programme.
