Launching a new occasional encounters with living composers, we are delighted to welcome David Matthews to The Red Hedgehog.

In an informal platform conversation, he talks to Mark Doran about his life and music, (including a period spent as Benjamin Britten’s assistant, collaboration with Deryck Cooke on the famous 'performance version' of Mahler's Tenth Symphony) and touches on his relationship with his brother Colin Matthews - also a famous composer.

The conversation will be fully illustrated with recordings of compositions by David Matthews from across his wide-ranging career.
